Nancy grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and has chosen to live and paint in this rural area. Lying between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, the area continually provides material for her representational watercolor paintings. After studying art at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, Nancy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in education at Salisbury University and has taught in both public and private schools for many years. In 1992 she won the Outstanding Arts Educator Award from the Maryland Alliance for Arts Education. She has studied with nationally known artists Charles Reid, Betsy Dillard Stroud, Jean Grastorf, Nicholas Simmons, John Salminen, Janet Rogers and Susan Avis Murphy and since 2003 has painted full time.
Nancy is a signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, a founding member of the Artists’ Co-op, a signature member of the Delaware Watercolor Society, a member of the Art League of Ocean City, and a member of the Rehoboth Art League. She has had many solo and group shows both locally and regionally. She has won numerous awards and has had her work juried into many local and regional shows including the 2006, 2009 and 2011 Baltimore Watercolor Society Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibitions, the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art, the Academy Art Museum, the Oxford Fine Arts Fair, the 19th Annual Juried Exhibition of the Art Institute and Gallery and the Biggs Museum of American Art. Nancy won the Ed Langley Memorial Award at the 2009 Baltimore Watercolor Society Exhibition, and the Adelia E. Chriswell Best Watercolor Award in the Rehoboth Art League 2012 Member Show. Her work has been shown at the Touchstone Gallery in Washington, D.C. and is currently on display at Y:ART Gallery, Baltimore, MD; Bishop’s Stock, Snow Hill, MD; Rehoboth Art League, Rehoboth, DE; Bordeleau Winery, Eden, MD and the Art League of Ocean City, Ocean City, MD.
